Raised on the family farm in County Cork, Ireland, Mags McCarthy (Mags) is a spell binding, captivating vocalist, dancer and multi-instrumentalist. Mags began her musical arts pursuit as a four-year-old studying Irish dance. Catering to an insatiable musical hunger.
Mags expanded her curriculum to explore and learn a wide variety of dance styles as well as musical instruments with her primary focus eventually settling on fiddle. Courted by the world-renowned Irish dance troupe, ‘Rhythm of The Dance’, Riverdance, the UCC (University College Cork) honours post graduate became a global sensation quite literally overnight
The young singer-songwriter has since toured 46-plus countries to date, performing before millions as a principal lead in the troupe and later as a solo artist. Her solo high points include performing in the White House in 2009 and being onstage with the delightful Ms. Dolly Parton in 2006 at Dollywood. With this and so much more encompassing her career thus far, Mags is certainly one to look out for.
In 2016, Mags travelled to Nashville to finalize the recording of 16 of her new songs. In early 2018, she followed up that previous trip in order to undertake a series of free benefit and promotional performances, in the Nashville area which also involved radio station visits and TV station visits throughout the USA
She is a long-time supporter for St. Jude’s Children hospital in the US. Along with going into studio to record a number of additional tunes
Mags also spent time making friends in the business. This resulted in her making gains in popularity and an acceptance by the truly remarkable ‘Music City’ community and all around the USA
With years of work behind her, overcoming all odds, Mags has become an international star. The plan now is to eventually realize her childhood dream of playing country music
