Brad Paisley just dropped his new song, “Same Here,” which marks the first look at his upcoming Son of The Mountain album.
Written by Paisley, Lee Thomas Miller and Taylor Goldsmith, and produced by Luke Wooten, the track serves as a reminder that while the world may seem like a big space, there are more similarities than we may realize. The country star displays his humbling vocals as he sings with open arms and a full heart in an effort to relate to those across the oceans or across the states, despite the difference in languages and cultures.
“However you talk, whatever you think / From the songs that you sing to the drink that you drink / If you miss your mama and worry ’bout your babies / And love each other like crazy / And want someone to share your hopes and fears / Same here,” Paisley delivers in the chorus.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Is Featured
In honor of the first anniversary of the war that broke out in Ukraine, Paisley chose to feature Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy through a recorded conversation at the end of the song.
“‘Same Here’ with President Zelenskyy is one of the pieces of this album that represents so much a part of my journey from West Virginia to now,” Paisley explained. “One of the prevailing themes on this album is freedom. That’s something I truly believe in, and think is our most precious gift as Americans. The song is grounded in observing life in the United States, then to people from other countries who speak different languages and to one across the ocean that’s at war. We start to realize how similar we all are.”
The “I’m Gonna Miss Her” singer formed a relationship with Pres. Zelenskyy after his participation in the ‘Ukraine: Answering the Call’ charity telethon in 2022 which was broadcast in prime time in the USA. Last month he was also named an ambassador for UNITED24.
He continued, “That’s one of the things the President says in the song, ‘There is no distance between our two countries in such values.’ They are longing for what we as Americans have already. It’s heartbreaking watching this struggle in modern time for freedom and democracy and the ability to just simply be who they want to be in peace. And this song is something that I hope resonates not only with my fans and people in America, but people anywhere that feel a similar desire to be free and safe and happy. Because I really do believe that as human beings when you take away the banners that determine what country we all live in, we all want the same things.”
Proceeds from the song will go to UNITED24 for their Rebuild Ukraine program launch by Pres. Zelenskyy, which serves as the main outlet for collecting charitable donations to rebuild and restore homes damaged by the current war. This reconstruction plan is the largest rebuilding project in Ukraine since the Second World War.
New Album Coming Soon
Paisley’s next studio album is expected to drop later this year and will mark his first project with his new label, Universal Music Group Nashville.
While reflecting on the album, the three-time GRAMMY award winner shared, “‘Son of the Mountains’ is a collection of songs that I’ve been writing and working on for a while now. The music encompasses a lot of big themes and perspectives from a kid that came from a small town in West Virginia after having seen a bit of the world. The record doesn’t shy away from reflection, real life and situations that are going on and what I think country music is- which is truth.”
Ahead of the new music drop, UMG Nashville announced the signing of the country music superstar to EMI Records Nashville.
The freshly inked deal reunites Paisley with UMGN Chairman and CEO Mike Dungan and President Cindy Mabe. Dungan had a hand in signing Paisley to his first deal at Arista, and Mabe served as Paisley’s marketing point person through many of his early album cycles including his breakthrough projects, Mud on the Tires and Time Well Wasted.
“There were two people that should get the credit that you even know my name – Mike Dungan and Cindy Mabe. I ran into Mike at the fishing department at Walmart after having met with several labels and he talked me into signing my first deal with Arista. They assigned this woman named Cindy Mabe to me – we graduated the same day at Belmont. I got to work with her on my first few albums and now I get to work with her at UMG,” said Paisley. “Cindy’s a genius and terrific human being. She heard what I was up to with the new music, and she pointed me further into the direction I was headed. I’ve never had this kind of enthusiasm and empowerment. She said, ‘Make music that matters.’ It’s an amazing thing to work with Mike and Cindy again. It’s great to know they believe in this music as much as I do.”
“Brad is a true creative. He has no boundaries to what he uses as his canvas. He has used his voice and his words as a gift to heal the world through his philanthropy, his song writing, his guitar playing, his entertaining, his music videos, his sense of humor and his heart,” added Mabe. “He has been a part of the country music duo with Carrie Underwood that helped define country music to the world. And getting to reunite with my friend and collaborator in his next creative adventure is something I’ve wanted for a long time. I cannot wait for him to share the music he has created with the world.”
Brad Paisley already has several shows on the books for 2023. His next performance is slated for March 18 when he will make an appearance at the Houston Rodeo before tackling several concerts in Nevada and a number of festivals including Temecula Valley Balloon And Wine Festival, North Dakota State Fair and We Fest.
