Carrie Underwood is approaching a major career milestone. On May 13, the country music superstar will celebrate her 15th anniversary as coveted a Grand Ole Opry member.
She first stepped into the circle to make her Opry debut on June 10, 2005, just two weeks after winning season four of the singing competition show, American Idol. At the time, Underwood was just getting started with her career that would eventually lead to her becoming a multi-GRAMMY®, CMA and ACM award winner.
However, among all the awards that were in her future, getting to stand on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry was a moment she, like many other artists, had dreamed about since childhood. That night in 2005, she performed the first song she released following Idol titled, “Inside Your Heaven,” as well as a cover of Roy Orbison’s “Crying.”
“I don’t even know how, but I always knew what it was,” she previously said of the Grand Ole Opry. “You don’t have to see it or hear it; you automatically know what it is. That’s how legendary it is.”
The “Hate My Heart” singer was then officially inducted into the Opry family on May 8, 2008 by fellow Oklahoman, Opry member Garth Brooks.
In honor of her 15th anniversary, Underwood will return to the historic venue with a two-show performance. Other artists who are expected to appear on the show to celebrate Underwood include Deana Carter, Michael Ray and more.
Tickets for this star-studded show are on sale now at opry.com. Fans who are not able to attend in person can tune in for a one-hour portion of the night’s first show that will air live at 9/8 pm CT and will re-air at 12/11pm CT, as Opry Live on Circle Television.
The show will livestream via Circle’s social channels and be heard on SiriusXM’s Willie’s Roadhouse channel 59. Additionally, the shows will air in their entirety on WSM Radio and opry.com/wsmonline.com.
Underwood makes it a point to stop by the Opry to perform at least a few times each year. Lately, her schedule has been booked with dates on her 43-city U.S. arena tour, THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR. This massive trek kicked off on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in Greenville, South Carolina and ran through March 17 when it came to an end with a sold-out show in Seattle, Washington.
After the final performance, Underwood took to Instagram to share a note of gratitude for her fans that showed up so many times to experience her music live on stage.
“…thank you to all the fans who came to all our shows! I’m so proud of this tour and so blessed to have lived it with so many wonderful people! Cheers to whatever comes next!!!”
In a separate post, the female songstress paid tribute to her tourmate, Jimmie Allen, as well as all the members of her team who made the shows run smoothly.
She wrote, “Words can’t describe how thankful I am to this band and crew who helped put on this show night after night 💜Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen and to all the venue staff who made us feel at home every night. @jimmieallen, thank you for putting on such a GREAT show – it was so fun to listen to you every night!! 🎶 This was a tour I’ll never forget!”
Next up, Carrie Underwood will return to her ongoing REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency in June.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Resorts World Las Vegas next summer,” says Underwood. “REFLECTION is a show I’m so proud of and have so much fun performing. I love being out on the road with THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR and look forward to returning to Vegas once that wraps, as it has become our home away from home where we get to play to audiences from all over the world.”
Set in Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, this summer residency recently gained 18 new shows, which will begin on June 21, 2023.
