Grace Tyler raises the emotion with the release of her brand new single, “Sound of You Gone.” The rising country artist has paired the slow-tempo country ballad with a heartfelt music video, premiering exclusively today Friday (May 26) for readers of Country Now.
Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend, “Sound of You Gone” acts as a dedication to military members, veterans, and others who have made sacrifices to provide freedom to Americans. Co-written by Liz Hengber, Jesse LaBelle, and Emily KrollIn, the tune finds Tyler emotionally crooning over the loss of a loved one with the aftermath that comes with it. The absence of someone she misses brings a deafening sound of silence into the spaces she once occupied with that person.
“The sound of you gone / Keeps playing on / Like sad country gold / That stays in your soul / Won’t leave you alone / The silence is ringing loud / And I just can’t drown it out / Maybe I could move on / If I could turn off / The sound of you gone,” Tyler sings throughout the chorus while showing off her angelic twang over a delicate piano.

By the time the bridge arrives, Tyler is bargaining with herself to come up with ways to bring that special someone back into her world.
“I’d take the sound of our first stupid fight / The rustling of covers that kept me up through the night /Anything’s better than the lonely that I’m hearing now,” she sings.
In the accompanying music video, Tyler brings the feeling of loss to life as she is seen barefoot while roaming through a desolate and open meadow. In select scenes of the black-and-white visual, the Frisco, Texas native is shown playing the song on a grand piano and wrestling with herself as she patiently longs for the presence of a loved one to return.

Tyler recently opened up about “Sound of You Gone” with Country Now, saying, “As a musician, my life revolves around sound. We all can understand and have thought of what it feels to lose someone but never what it sounds like to lose someone. It’s a void that can’t be filled and I wanted to somehow put that into words.”
“When writing songs, I’m always putting myself in other people’s shoes — and especially for this song,” she continues. “I couldn’t help but begin to imagine what it is like for the families of our service members and the pain of losing someone fighting for our freedom. So this song for me is dedicated to all military, veterans, and family members who continuously make sacrifices for our freedom.”
