Carrie Underwood is one of the biggest names in country music for her ability to sell out seven headlining tours, rack up an impressive catalog with 28 No. 1 singles and dazzle audiences with captivating vocals paired with her denim and rhinestones ensembles. But underneath all the glamour, Underwood enjoys living a simple life in her Nashville home with her husband, Mike Fisher, and their two boys, Isaiah, 8, and Jacob, 4.
“I love my role as a mom and wife,” Underwood told Vegas Magazine. “In addition to what I get to do onstage, I go to baseball practice. It’s wonderfully ordinary, and I love that. In a lot of ways, I lead a double life. I’m mom at home, and then I fly away to Vegas or to go on tour.”
She’s often seen posting about the calmer side of her days on social media. In doing so, fans get an inside look into her life off stage, which includes tending to her garden, showing off new pets, and celebrating special moments with family.
“I do very much enjoy gardening and homesteading. We grow fruits, like apples and peaches, and I feel like I’m always making something, like mead, out of honey,” she told the outlet. “It’s really cool when people come over, and you can serve them bread that you made or some hard apple cider from your orchard. I like doing stuff like that. And my husband enjoys grilling. He’s a hunter, so everything in our freezers and fridge is pretty much things we’ve gathered ourselves, which is pretty cool.”
The American Idol alum wrapped up her massive Denim & Rhinestones trek earlier this year and while she’s had a small window of time to enjoy some downtime, things are about to pick up again. Next month, Underwood will relaunch REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency.
While discussing her residency, Underwood explained the level of freedom that comes with having shows in the same location each night instead of packing everything up and moving around. This gives her the opportunity to pull out more eccentric tricks than on a regular tour, and gives the audience a unique experience that they will never forget.
“This show allows us to be more technical with different tricks up our sleeves since we don’t have to pack up all our stuff every night,” Underwood shared. “It allows us to do things that we can’t do when we’re out on tour, which is cool.”
“We go straight for the jugular; there’s not a dull moment in the show,” she added. “The crowds in Vegas are incredible because everybody’s from everywhere, and Vegas is just this epicenter of entertainment.”
However, even when she’s surrounded by the plethora of glitz and glitter in Las Vegas, Carrie Underwood still opts for a more normal routine when she’s not performing her heart out on stage.
“I don’t leave Resorts World too often. That’s one of the great things about Vegas in general—you can go and stay at your preferred place, and everything you need is right there,” she explained. “I might pop into a restaurant if my husband’s in town, but I kind of keep to myself.”
Since fitness is such a huge part of her lifestyle, the “Hate My Heart” singer makes a strong effort to continue cooking for herself while on the road instead of constantly eating out.
“For the most part, I just go to the grocery store because I enjoy having my own food around me. If I eat room service all the time, I’m not going to be able to fit into my tour clothes!”
