Gabby Barrett is raising the anticipation surrounding her sophomore album that’s currently in the works with the announcement of her next single, “Glory Days,” set for release in June.
While preparing to walk the red carpet of the 58th ACM Awards Show, which took place May 11 in Frisco, TX, the American Idol alum took to social media to share a sneak peak of the new, unreleased song.
“Hi guys, wanted to give you a little teaser of my new single that’ll be out next month called ‘Glory Days,’” Barrett said in the clip before letting the upcoming release play as the soundtrack to her getting ready process.
Throughout the snippet, the female songstress can be heard belting out the joy-filled lyrics as she emphasizes her gratitude for the current chapter of her life, which includes being a wife to her husband, Cade Foehner, and a mom to her son, Augustine Boone Foehner, and her daughter, Baylah May. The song serves as a reflective take on being present in the moment and making it a point to appreciate the little things because life moves by pretty fast.
“This is as good as it gets / I don’t know what I would change / I love this life that we live / I love that smile on your face / No we ain’t gotta look back / At all those pictures in frames / I wish it’d all stay the same / cause right here, right now / I’d say these are the glory days,” she sings throughout the upbeat chorus.
Co-written with Emily Weisband, Seth Mosley, and James McNair, the Ross Copperman and Barrett-produced track is slated to drop in June and will appear on her upcoming album.
New Album On The Horizon
While backstage at the recent ACM Awards, Barrett also caught up with Audacy’s Katie & Company to talk more about her next full-length collection, which she revealed will likely be released in the fall.
“I’m so excited. I have just been trying to be very intentional about these songs,” she shared before admitting, “I’m almost done with it, so that’s really exciting. Early fall is the game plan to get it released. Hopefully, we can even release some music before that. But I am co-producing this one with Ross Copperman. Good buddy of mine. Love him so much.”
This album will follow her wildly successful debut album, Goldmine, which was released in 2020 and spawned back-to-back No.1’s “I Hope” and “The Good Ones.” Plus, she unveiled a deluxe edition the following year, which included the platinum-selling “Pick Me Up.”
“I’m so thankful for all the success that’s come with that, but I never got to go into a studio and see live instruments cut because of Covid,” she said, reflecting on the creative process of putting together an album during the pandemic. “It was just, everything was over the phone. I recorded one of the vocals for that record on my phone, my iPhone.”
Now that she’s able to be back in the studio, Barrett was able to take a much more hands-on approach with her sophomore album.
“It’s completely different now,” she continued. “Going in cutting, seeing live instruments, asking for things to be changed or can we add this? Can we add that? So I’m very much more a part of it in a different way.”
Along with “Glory Days,” the singer/songwriter previously shared that the project will also feature cuts written or co-written by Luke Combs and Miranda Lambert. While the Pennsylvania native has yet to disclose much information about the unreleased tracks, she did tell the outlet that she is “really excited” about a lot of the upcoming songs.
“I wrote another song on the album that was written with Miranda Lambert. That’s very fun. And there’s so many people in the Nashville community that I haven’t gotten to write with that I did this time around. So there’s just a lot to look forward to,” she teased.
As she continues to navigate life as a mom with two young kids and prepares to release her next album, Gabby Barrett also has a slew of performances in store for the year. She’s expected to take the stage at a number of festivals including Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam and Tailgate N’ Tallboys.
Plus, she will join Kane Brown for several shows on the U.S. leg of his Drunk or Dreaming Tour.
