Lainey Wilson is embracing the viral success surrounding her butt and says she’s taking the Dolly Parton approach to it all.
In an interview with KMLE 107.9, Wilson opened up about the sudden interest in her rear end.
“Well so before everybody like all of a sudden found out about my fat butt… Years ago, like 5 years ago somebody had actually started a Twitter account so they beat everybody to it. It was called ‘AssLainey.’ Yeah, I’m like I don’t know how y’all are just realizing I got a fat butt,” she joked.

The “Heart Like A Truck” singer said, “I can’t see it, I mean, it’s been back there a while, but I’m not shocked. I mean, if you literally get on TikTok and type in Lainey Wilson… the thing that pops up is Lainey Wilson dumpy truck.”
While she admits that the attention on her backside can sometimes be a bit awkward, the Louisiana native is taking it all in stride. She hopes that it will lead more people to find her music.
“I’m like you know what? At the end of the day, if that’s what brought people to my music and they stuck around because of it then to hell with it,” she said. “Now, I mean it’s a little weird in the beginning like being sexualized, but also I’m like I’ve worked my fingers to the bone. I’ve been in Nashville for 12 years and I’m not gonna let it slow me down.”
In fact, Lainey Wilson is taking a page from Dolly Parton’s book when it comes to the attention on her body.
“You know at the end of the day, we were talking about Dolly [Parton]. I mean, she flaunts it, she’s proud of it,” Wilson said, referencing Parton’s often talked-about breasts.
Wilson is a longtime fan of Parton. She paid tribute to the country music icon on her debut album with the song “WWDD” (short for “What Would Dolly Do”).
Although Wilson and Parton have yet to meet, the hitmaker told Entertainment Tonight that she’d love to collaborated with Parton.
“I think we would get along just great,” Wilson said, adding, “I think we would be best buds,” she continued. “I think [Dolly’s] best buds with anybody, probably. I’m telling you, she, Dolly Parton, hands down, [is] one of the biggest inspirations, I mean, for so many people around the world. I mean, who she is, the way that she tells it how it is with a little bow wrapped on top, she’s just a good person, got a heart of gold. I think if we were all a little bit more like her, the world would be a much better place.”
Lainey Wilson recently caught the attention of millions on the internet when her backside became the subject of viral TikTok videos.
She is currently in the midst of her sold-out headlining Country With A Flare Tour, which kicked off on January 4 in Spokane, Washington at the Knitting Factory.
