Luke Combs recently brought his 2023 World Tour to Nashville, TN for two nights of shows that received record-breaking attendance. As promised, during his second appearance on April 15, he finally announced the news that fans had been eagerly awaiting.
Through several social media posts, the country music superstar shared that he wanted his loyal fans to be the ones to decide which of his recent releases would be his next single on the radio. So he created a poll with two choices – “5 Leaf Clover” or “Love You Anyway.”
“I always just believed in the songs that you guys love and this is just a way for you guys to actually pick my next single. So, if you go vote, I’d sure appreciate it and look forward to seeing what y’all decide,” Combs shared in a clip shared to social media.
Both of these songs are featured on the “Beautiful Crazy” singer’s latest album, Gettin’ Old, which dropped March 24 via River House Artists/Columbia Nashville.
“It was real close,” Combs said while on stage at Nissan Stadium. “I think it was 51% to 49% so it was neck and neck. The song we’re about to play right now is the winner.”
He then revealed the winning track to be “Love You Anyway.” The song was inspired by heartfelt words to his wife, Nicole, and finds him making a promise to maintain his love for his partner, even if she chose to walk out of his life one day.
“There’s just some things that leave a man no choice / Like a compass needle needing its true north / Even if I knew the day we met you’d be the reason this heart breaks / Oh, I’d love you anyway,” he sings in the genuine chorus.
Just one week before he was slated to perform in Music City, the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year surprised fans with the news that he would be adding a second concert on Friday, April 14. In the days following, it was revealed that he ended up breaking Nissan Stadium’s two-day and single-day concert attendance records with over 95,000.
“Music City…Man, when I moved here, I just wanted an opportunity to be around music in any capacity, so I never could have dreamed of a weekend like this, especially with a last-minute notice of the Friday show to the fans but they showed up…just like they always do. Nashville, thank you. I’m glad to call this home,” Combs shared in a press release, reflecting on the recent shows.
With 40 shows across 3 continents and 16 countries, the record-breaking run is the largest tour ever for a country artist. The tour continues to celebrate the new album, Gettin’ Old, which is as a companion to his acclaimed 2022 record, Growin’ Up.
His fourth full-length album follows Growin’ Up, 2019’s 3x Platinum What You See is What You Get and his 4x Platinum debut, This One’s For You.
The trek continues with upcoming sold-out shows at Chicago’s Soldier Field, Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium and Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium as well as stops in Australia, New Zealand, U.K., Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, France and Belgium.
Riley Green, Lainey Wilson, Flatland Cavalry and Brent Cobb will serve as support to Luke Combs on the North American tour dates. Special guests on the Australian and New Zealand dates include Cody Johnson and Lane Pittman.
