Megan Moroney’s knack for telling relatable stories through cleverly written lyrics continues with the release of her new song, “I’m Not Pretty.”

Sure to be an instant hit with her ever-growing fanbase, the track details a situation many have experienced as she tells the real-life story of when an ex-boyfriend’s new flame did some Instagram stalking and accidentally liked an old photo on her feed.

The mid-tempo track couples Moroney’s smooth vocals with her impeccable storytelling skills as she confidently sends a message to her ex’s new girl.

An Anthem For The Girls

“Somewhere out there my ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend’s scrolling through my Instagram/ Tearing me down, passing the phone around like there’s nothing better to do/ Zooming out, Zooming in overanalyzin’/ Like the queen of the mean girls’ committee/ But hey whatever helps/ Keep on telling yourself/ I’m not pretty,” she sings.

As the song continues, Moroney’s message is clear as she declares, “Give me a break, learn to sew, bake a cake/ Take a walk and while you’re at it get lost.”

Moroney co-wrote the tune with Ben Williams, Micah Carpenter, and Mackenzie Carpenter and says she hopes others will relate.

“It’s a mostly true story (you can find the spring break throwback pic on my Instagram) but not meant to be taken too seriously,” Moroney explained. “I think everyone can relate to somebody keeping tabs on them on social media. It was fun to write and it’s fun to sing and hopefully will become an anthem for the girls.”

The buzzed-about newcomer, who landed a spot on Country Now’s 2023 Artists to Watch list, paired “I’m Not Pretty” with a throwback visualizer complete with pops of pink and retro glam. Click above to watch.

“Tennessee Orange” Continues To Make Waves

Megan Moroney became a viral sensation in 2022 with the release of her track, “Tennessee Orange.” The song’s success reached new heights in recent weeks when it was the No.1  weekly streamed song by a solo female country artist.

Additionally, “Tennessee Orange” has amassed over 120 million total global on-demand streams.

As it climbs the country radio charts, Moroney recently gave new life to the fan-favorite tune with the release of a music video that features her falling for a mystery man.

The song’s lyrics come to life in front of viewers’ eyes throughout the clip as the video plays out through the eyes of her unknown lover. He spends time with her over breakfast, accompanies her for karaoke at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge, and joins her for a night on the town on Lower Broadway.

“I had so much fun making this video with Jason Lester!” Moroney previously shared. “I think we could have taken this video in a few different directions, and I was so excited to film it from ‘his’ point of view. This song is about more than a football team and I think we captured the love story perfectly.”

The video was released just four weeks ago and it’s already amassed over 1.9 million views on YouTube.
