Pearce is the thirteenth major artist to perform the “Star-Spangled Banner” at the iconic horse race, which will take place at Churchill Downs on Saturday, May 6. Her “bucket list” performance will take place just after 5 pm ET and will broadcast live on NBC as part of the network’s Kentucky Derby coverage.
Just days later, Pearce will perform at the 2023 iHeartCountry Festival at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The star-studded lineup also features Luke Bryan, Kane Brown, Sam Hunt, Elle King, Parker McCollum, and more.
Carly Pearce recently wrapped her time on Blake Shelton’s Back to the Honky Tonk Tour where she got the chance to get to know Gwen Stefani on a more personal level. The pair recently joined forces on the CMT Music Awards stage for a collaborative performance of “Just A Girl.”
“I love her,” Pearce previously told Entertainment Tonight of Stefani. “I’ve gotten to know her pretty well being on tour with Blake and she just is a true fan of songwriting, just like me.”
Working On New Music
On the subject of songwriting, Pearce closed the chapter of her expertly crafted album, 29: Written In Stone, with the release of a live album earlier this year. The project chronicled her life after her divorce. Now, she says she’s ready to write about something else.
“I’m thankful that I don’t have to write about a divorce anymore,” she recently told her record label. “But this phase of my life, while it is very exciting and fulfilling and fun and upbeat, there are still struggles that come with that, and I think I’m just really excited.”
While details surrounding her next project have yet to be revealed, Pearce has been teasing a new song called “Trust Issues” during her live shows.
As fans anxiously await the arrival of her next musical chapter, one this is certain: she will continue to be honest about what’s going on in her life.
“Obviously, I learned a lot sonically about where I want to continue to push myself into the rootsier side of my music. But I think more importantly, I just learned that fans, they just wanna hear what I’m going through and what my perspective is and how I see the world in that period of time in my life.”
