Sister duo Tigirlily Gold is making waves on the internet and the country radio charts with the release of their hit single, “Shoot Tequila,” from their just-announced forthcoming debut EP, Blonde.
The track first gained traction on TikTok, when the duo posted a video featuring the tune, which now has over 5.3 million views.
The single then arrived at country radio on March 13 as the second-most-added song upon impact.
“We’ve been singing in honky tonks since before we could even legally ‘shoot tequila,’” the sisters shared in a recent release. “Playing on Broadway in Nashville for years really affected our sound, and we always lean towards writing songs that have great live energy. ‘Shoot Tequila’ is our ‘Broadway’ song, and we want people to get excited, grab a drink, and meet us at the nearest honky tonk!”
The upbeat track was co-written by Tigirlily Gold’s Krista and Kendra alongside Better Than Ezra’s Kevin Griffin and David Mescon, and produced by Pete Good and Shane McAnally.
The song will appear on the duo’s upcoming debut EP, Blonde, which draws inspiration from their biggest musical influence, Dolly Parton. The collection will be released on June 23.
Kendra of Tigirlily Gold shared, “Blonde is a state of mind. The song/EP is all about channeling that inner confidence, staying true to your story, being able to poke fun at yourself and having fun along the way.”
Krista echoed, “The Blonde EP is the first chapter of this whole project. We are very excited to start giving people a taste of what the whole record will be like with these four songs!”
Alongside the announcement of their upcoming EP, the Slaubaugh sisters released the title track, “Blonde”. The track is a homage to the “Dolly Parton state-of-mind” and the girl power attitude Parton represents for women globally.
Written by Krista and Kendra alongside Alex Kline and Scott Stepakoff, “Blonde” is available everywhere now HERE.
Tigirlily Gold brought the song to life in a music video that features performance clips as well as an iconic car that has only been driven by Dolly Parton, George Jones, and now, Tigirlily Gold.
“You can’t buy happiness/ But you can buy hair like this/ It’s a Dolly Parton state of mind/ It’s Marilyn leavin’ Norma Jean behind/ From dirty to platinum/ We’re just trying to have some fun/ When we’re feelin’ low, we high-lighten up/ Every day’s a good day when you’re wakin’ up/ Uh, blonde, ooh, yeah,” they sing.
